The Monterey Coastkeeper is The Otter Project's water quality program in the central coast. A member of the California Coastkeeper Alliance and the Waterkeeper Alliance, the Monterey Coastkeeper was born out of the realization that addressing a wide range of water quality issues is integral to helping sea otters recover. Water quality issues--what gets into the water and how--are complex and the science is often behind on proving the links between exact causes and effects. Considering the bigger picture might be one of the best things we can do for otters, and all marine and coastal species--including us!
